If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about separating from your spouse – either you want to separate or your spouse does. I know you’re scared, worried, anxious – maybe even secretly a little excited. You have a lot of questions. I can help you. I have answers.
I have been protecting people like you for more than 30 years. I can help protect your assets; your business. I can help you minimize the damage. I can help you move forward. I am a good listener, and I understand the emotional roller coaster you are about to ride.
I can help you resolve your family law matters through preventative measures like mediation, settlement conference or other alternatives to litigation. Most family law cases are settled without involving a Judge – but that requires diligence, advance preparation, and persuasion – things I’m good at. I will be a good steward of your trust in me and the money you pay.
I have been practicing family law since graduating from law school. I have been named in The Best Lawyers in America U.S. News-Best Lawyers ; North Carolina Super Lawyers Super Lawyers; North Carolina Legal Elite Hall of Fame, as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in North Carolina and one of the Top 25 Lawyers in Raleigh. I am a Fellow with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and have been certified by the AAML as a Family Law Arbitrator. The AAML is the only organization in the country that trains family lawyers to arbitrate the unique issues that arise in this field. I am certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Family Law Specialist, and I serve the North Carolina State Bar as Chair of the Family Law Specialization Committee (we write and score the family law specialist examinations). I regularly serve the Family Law Bar as a speaker and course planner for various continuing legal education programs and have contributed articles to books and legal publications. I have a wide level of experience, and I will be by your side the entire ride.
I took up running later in life and even though my marathon days are behind me, I still lace up the shoes which is evidence of my stubbornness and refusal to accept limitations. I’ve been teaching family law as an Adjunct Professor at Campbell Law School for almost 10 years. I learn as much from my students as I hope they learn from me. If you’re out and about, look out for me gasping for breath walking/running along in my white & gold running shoes (they are badass, by the way).
